OUR STORY
SINCE 2021
We started as a robotics team at Ünye Science High School in 2021. We entered our first FRC competition as Ünye Fen Team. Today, we compete in FRC and FLL as Black Sea Robotics #8747.

It started in Ünye.
We founded our team at Ünye Science High School, coming together to design, build and program robots.
- 2022
Our first competition.
As Ünye Fen Team, we reached the quarterfinals at the Bosphorus Regional and won the Team Spirit Award.
- 2023–25
More competitions and projects.
We returned to the Bosphorus Regional. In 2025, we brought our robot to primary schools and presented our work in two pit areas at the Oney Science Festival.
- 2026
Continuing in FRC and FLL.
We competed at the Marmara Regional. In FLL, we placed first in robot performance and second overall at the regional tournament, qualifying for the national finals.
OUR MISSION
Learning to solve problems by designing robots, building together and sharing what we learn.
Through STEM, robotics and programming, we aim to develop analytical thinking, build confidence through teamwork and encourage an interest in computer science.
Our work also takes us beyond the workshop. We introduce students to our robot through school visits and science festivals.
Moving forward together.
On March 31, 2026, we were involved in a road accident in Samsun while returning from a robotics competition in Istanbul. It was a difficult turning point in our team’s story.
For us, not giving up means supporting one another, putting everyone’s well-being first and taking the next step together when we are ready. That solidarity sustains our desire to keep learning and building.

Where and when was Black Sea Robotics founded?
We are the robotics team of Ünye Science High School in Ünye, Ordu, Türkiye. We formed in 2021 and entered our first FRC competition in 2022. The FIRST listing “Rookie Year: 2022” refers to our first FRC season.

#8747 matches and resultsWhat is the difference between FRC and FLL?
In FRC, high school teams design and build large robots for a game announced each season. In FLL Challenge, teams complete tabletop missions with LEGO-based robots and develop an Innovation Project related to the season's theme. We take part in both programs.
What is your robot called?
Our 2026 FRC robot is called ROBONEY. We competed with it at the Marmara Regional on March 28–30, 2026.
2026 robot and event profileHow did you do in the 2026 season?
We finished 19th out of 43 teams at the FRC Marmara Regional, with 5 wins and 4 losses.
In the FLL UNEARTHED season, we won the Robot Performance Award in Ordu. We placed second out of 16 teams at the regional tournament and qualified for the national finals in İzmir.
